A Little Bit About Me and My Class
Hello Lake Forest Students!
I am so excited to have you in my class this year! This is my 14th year teaching 8th grade ELA at Lake Forest Middle School, and I am so proud to be a member of the LF faculty. My favorite things about teaching are watching students fall in love with a text we are reading, letting students engage in class discussions, and laughing together as we make learning fun. In my spare time, I enjoy leading worship at my church, hanging out with friends, trying new restaurants, and curling up with a good book.
Our curriculum this year is called Study Sync. While we will be using this as our main avenue of instruction, we will also read novels together, engage in rich class discussions, participate in class debates, and experiment with hands-on activities. There will be a strong emphasis on writing, particularly with text-dependent questions and prompts. By the end of the year, I hope you feel more prepared to be successful in high school and that you love to read just a little bit more!
We will do a lot of learning this year, and we will have tons of fun while we do it!
Can't wait to get to know you better!
